The History of Sri Lanka’s National Anthem

On his first ever plane trip, Ananda Samarakoon was struck by the view of Sri Lanka from the air, and was inspired to compose a tribute for his homeland. This song would become our national anthem, but it’s popularity would bring controversy and tragedy into the life of it’s composer.
