Startup Weekend is all about promoting technology entrepreneurship, and this year, the focus is on female entrepreneurs. Over the course of 54 hours, attendees will have the chance to experience first hand the heady rush, excitement, and trials of trying to get a startup going. They will also get to meet mentors, investors and other co-founders.
Future Women Forum ‘19

We’re all aware of the unique challenges women sometimes face while trying to climb up the career ladder. There can also be situations where societal pressures dissuade women from aiming for leadership positions. The purpose of this event is to create a platform for women to support other women and also encourage women to aim for the top, and settle for nothing less.

Sri Lanka’s premier startup exhibition and competition is back! As usual, startups will get to pitch and meet a large number of investors and business partners. However, this year there’s a twist. The team behind Venture Engine told us that a group of investors from Temasek and Accel Partners will also be here.

Open AgroHack ‘19

Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector is ripe for disruption. Despite a third of the country’s labour force being employed in the industry, the sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP is only 7%, which means that efficiency is..um..pretty low. Which is why a dose of innovation would be most welcome, and the Open AgroHack aims to do just that. Organized by the Open University of Sri Lanka, University College of Anuradhapura and Nations Trust Bank’s Kaffeine Labs, this event is a place for aspiring disruptors in the Agriculture industry to show off their talents through a 24 hour hackathon.
