Nearly two years into the #COVID19 pandemic, Sri Lanka’s judicial sector has taken steps to adapt legal processes and court proceedings to the limitations posed by the pandemic.

The Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) (Temporary Provisions) Bill Act No. 17 proposes three key provisions to grant relief – primarily in the form of added time and alternate locations for court hearings – to those who have been impacted by COVID-19 or related lockdowns, closures and restrictions of movement.
