A British Woman Of Sri Lankan Descent Will Soon Head The Associated Press

Daisy Veerasingham will take over as CEO and president of the Associated Press from the beginning of next year, taking over from Gary Pruitt. The appointment of Veerasingham, a British national of Sri Lankan descent, will make her the first woman, the first person of colour, and the first non-American to head the company in its 175-year history.
