Fitness and Fun: Zumba With Maliban

Getting fit is something that a majority of us place on the top of our new year’s resolutions list – only to be forgotten two weeks later. Maybe it’s time for a fresh approach to the whole ‘getting fit’ affair – and the folks at Maliban, together with Dharshan (a.k.a Zumba instructor Priyadharshan Ramasamy) have come up with a fun way to do it.

Maliban’s Fit & Slim Zumba event will be an evening crammed full of exhilarating Zumba – and the fun doesn’t end there, as there is an after party as well. Think of this as the beginning of a fitter, happier life; they even have a photo-booth for you to mark the occasion.

Reserving a ticket is all you need to do if you’re interested in participating. Signing up will also entitle you to free refreshments and a t-shirt courtesy of Maliban. If you do plan on taking part, the organisers encourage you to wear comfortable clothing, sports shoes and have a towel handy (don’t forget to bring lots of energy, the workout will knock your socks off!)

The after party will feature food-stalls (to regain some of that spent energy), games and other fun activities. Maliban also has some cool surprise gifts awaiting the participants.

“The main idea behind the event was to build a community of like-minded people who come together and exchange ideas at fitness related events,” a spokesperson for the event told Roar. “This in turn will help them become healthier, happier and in the long-run, more successful.”

Park Street Mews is the place you want to be on November 28, at 7 p.m if you want to be a part of what promises to be a fun-filled evening full of adrenaline. What’s more, you can rest assured that the rain won’t have a chance to ruin your evening, as everything will take place indoors. The event should wrap-up at around 10:30 p.m.

For those of you who are unaware, Zumba, in a nutshell, is a dance fitness programme that gained popularity during the 90’s; incorporating both dance and aerobic elements, it involves bits of hip-hop, salsa, samba and soca, with some lunges and squats thrown in for good measure.

If you’re still not convinced, Zumba isn’t just about losing weight. According to webmd it will help lower the risk of heart disease, boost good cholesterol, and reduce blood pressure and bad cholesterol. You could go here for some more fun facts about Zumba.

Good health paves way for a better outlook on life in general and this better outlook makes way for happiness.

After all, your body is the only place you have to live in, giving it the care it deserves is a must.
