How Space Tech Is Helping Local Mangrove Conservation in Sri Lanka

The Ministry of Environment and local conservationists are using satellite imagery technology to preserve and protect Sri Lanka’s mangroves.

The marine ecosystems are vital to slowing down climate change, as they absorb large levels of carbon dioxide, and act as an effective barricade against tidal waves and coastal erosion. After mangrove conservation became national policy early last year, local conservation efforts seem to be going from strength to strength.
