The Colombo Port City Project – to build or not to build?

The Colombo Port City has been the topic of many table discussions on what this extra piece of land will mean to Sri Lanka. With the plans for high-rise buildings, shopping arenas, water sports, a mini golf course, hotels and, not surprisingly, a Formula1 track, the Colombo Port City is promising to be quite the utopia.

At an estimated 15 billion dollars, the reclaimed land project – undertaken by the China Harbour Engineering Corporation, is digging up the ocean in front of Galle Face Green. Even at this moment, our view from Galle Face, as we once knew it, and the landscape of Colombo is changing drastically.

We’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly, but with the new changes happening right now in the country and considering the state of the economy as it is, we want to know if you think this 570 acre project should be completed in 2017 or not.
