Nicholas Romanov: The Last Tsar’s Visit To Ceylon

Before he ascended to the throne and became infamous as the last tsar of Russia, Nicholas Romanov set out on a journey East to forge diplomatic ties.

One of his stops was the island of #Ceylon, then under British colonial rule, where he arrived in 1891. Between inspecting tea factories, watching peraheras and hunting in the Hill Country, the young tsarevich made a lasting impression on the locals.
