Thanks to a colonial-era ban lifted only in 2019, #angampora — a traditional Sri Lankan martial art — is struggling to gain popularity with younger generations. Outside of the island, the practice is risking extinction. Organisations like STIMA are dedicated to adapting the ancient art into a modern ring sport, in the hopes that it will increase its popularity.
