මිය යන විට 69 වියෙහි පසු වූ ඔහු මුම්බායි හි රෝහලක ප්රතිකාර ලබමින් සිටියා. 80 සහ 90 දශකවල ඉන්දියාවේ ඩිස්කෝ සංගීතය ජනප්රිය කිරීමට බප්පි ලහිරි මූලික වූවා. ඉන්දීය ‘ඩිස්කෝ සංගීත රජු‘ ලෙස සැලකෙන ඔහු “Chalte Chalte”, “Disco Dancer”, “Sharaabi” ඇතුළු ප්රසිද්ධ චිත්රපට කිහිපයක් සඳහා ගීත රචනා කර තිබෙනවා.
